1. What information do we collect?

A. Information you actively provide

  • QR / Barcode contents. Anything you scan or create (URLs, contact cards, Wi-Fi credentials, etc.). Stored only in your local Room database if you toggle “Save Scan History”.
  • Support e-mails. When you e-mail us, we receive your address and any content you include.

B. Information collected automatically

  • Precise location (fine GPS/Wi-Fi). Requested only after you click “Allow”. Used locally to list nearby SSIDs so you can tap to insert them. Never transmitted off-device.
  • Approximate location (coarse IP). Automatically attached to an AdMob ad request so Google can show compliant regional ads.
  • Advertising ID & device metrics collected by Google Mobile Ads SDK for ad delivery, frequency capping, and fraud detection.

We do not collect photos, contacts, voice, analytics, or any cloud data.

2. How do we process your information?

  • On-device only. QR decoding (ZXing), generator, and Room database run entirely in the app sandbox.
  • Runtime permissions. Camera, precise location are optional and requested in context. Rejecting them disables the related feature but not the rest of the app.
  • Advertising. AdMob receives an HTTPS request with AAID and coarse IP in order to return an ad. We globally request non-personalised ads by default.
  • Consent – you grant permissions and choose ad personalisation (GDPR/UK-GDPR form).
  • Legitimate interest – show minimal, privacy-respecting ads to sustain free distribution.
  • Legal obligation – comply with court orders if ever received.
  • Contract – we need basic technical data to actually deliver an ad-funded utility you requested.

4. When and with whom do we share your personal information?

  • Google AdMob. Receives Advertising ID, coarse IP, device model, OS version and ad-event data; used under Google’s Privacy & Terms.
  • Legal authorities. Only if legally required and limited to the minimum information we hold (normally just email correspondence).

We never sell or trade your information.

5. What is our stance on third-party websites or SDKs?

Ads may link to external sites we do not control. Their privacy practices are their own; review those policies separately.

6. Do we use cookies or other tracking technologies?

No web cookies. AdMob may cache small files or identifiers inside the app’s private storage for ad measurement. Clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling removes them.

7. How do we handle your social logins?

Not applicable – WiFi QR Share has no login or registration.

8. How long do we keep your information?

  • Local Room database – until you tap “Clear History” or uninstall. Uninstalling the app deletes the database automatically.
  • Support e-mails – retained up to 24 months, then purged.
  • AdMob logs – controlled by Google (raw logs ≈ 60 days, aggregated reports ≤ 13 months).

9. How do we keep your information safe?

  • Collect only what’s strictly necessary.
  • Android sandbox & file-based encryption protect local data.
  • All external traffic is TLS-encrypted.

10. Do we collect information from minors?

No. The app isn’t directed at children under 13. If we discover such data we delete it immediately.

11. What are your privacy rights?

  • Revoke location permission anytime: Android Settings › Apps › WiFi QR Share › Permissions.
  • Reset or delete Advertising ID: Settings › Google › Ads › Delete Advertising ID.
  • Clear Scan History inside the app.
  • Uninstall => all locally stored data is deleted automatically.

12. Controls for Do-Not-Track features

Mobile apps have no universal DNT. We comply with platform ad-personalisation and AAID settings.

13. Do United States residents have specific privacy rights?

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and Virginia may:

  • Request categories of AdMob data processed.
  • Request deletion of Advertising-ID-linked data.
  • Opt-out of “sharing” for cross-contextual advertising (done by deleting Advertising ID).

Email us your Advertising ID; we will verify and forward the request to Google on your behalf.
